Kalakeli, are a South Indian drum ensemble in Belfast, sharing the powerful rhythms of Chenda Melam across Northern Ireland. Rooted in Kerala’s temple arts, we blend traditional instruments like Chenda, Ilathalam, and Kurumkuzhal with creative fusion. Through percussion, movement, and storytelling, we celebrate culture, unity, and joy—supporting the Mela’s mission of diversity, inclusion, and cultural expression through music that transcends boundaries.
